David Causey is a Partner at Provence Messervy.  He joined the firm in 2009 after serving as the Law Clerk for the Dorchester County Probate Court and the Dorchester County Master in Equity.  He is a graduate of Summerville High School and has undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina and its Honors College.  He earned a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching English from the University of South Carolina before receiving his law degree cum laude from the Charleston School of Law.
 
Prior to attending law school, David was a high school teacher and girls’ soccer coach at Dutch Fork High School and Summerville High School.  He taught a wide range of subjects, including English, Creative Writing, and American Government.
 
David’s practice areas include probate litigation, estate administration, estate planning, and issues involving real property.  He mainly practices in Dorchester, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, and Orangeburg Counties, but regularly appears in many other Probate Courts across the state.
 
David lives in Summerville with his wife, Gina, who is the media specialist at Alston Middle School.  He is a member of the Summerville Family YMCA and a former student at the American Judo and Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Summerville.  In his free time, David enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and listening to music.
